Behind The Loom
Behind The Loom is an animated short documentary film that unpacks the mystery of a family tragedy with the help of an heirloom. Using testimony from the Siege of Berlin and Ovid’s Philomela myth, Behind The Loom is a quest for truth about the death of Mother and her daughters, underscoring the role of art to heal trauma.
This research project came into being after a collaboration of the theatrical production If We Were Birds at the Connecticut Repertory Theater between September 2018 and April 2019. Behind The Loom will contribute to the growing number of works exploring the forgotten story of the brutalization of women and girls leading up to and around The Siege of Berlin in 1945.
